Google Webmaster Tools can be enabled for your site via the Google Webmaster Tools website. They required you to "verify" / prove to Google that you own your site first.

To verify that you own a site, you have a number of options. These are the 2 easy ones. :-)

  • Option #1. Add a meta tag to your home page (proving that you have access to the source files). To use this method, you must be able to edit the HTML code of your site's pages.

  • Option #2. Add the Google Analytics code you use to track your site. To use this option, you must be an administrator on the Google Analytics account, and the tracking code must use the new asynchronous snippet.

Of these options, the Meta Tag is the easiest. Here's how to get the "meta tag" from your Google account:

Just get that Meta tag from Google, and add it to your site header via the Blog Dashboard -> Add-Ons -> AddToAll tool, and add that line to the section entitled "Any other HTML (no PHP) to add to wp_head":

If you have any problems with that just send it to us and we can do it for you.

The other option is to first set up your Google Analytics account. if you don't have this already, it's a good thing to have anyway.

Follow directions here:

When that is done, follow the steps here to verify your webmaster tools account via google analytics:
